by Rose White

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania has wrapped up a successful Aloha Down Under 2024 with events in Wellington, Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney hosted from 16 to 24 September.

The annual roadshow included 13 leading suppliers and lured over 500 travel advisors to its B2B series, delivering the latest updates on the Hawaiian Islands, strengthening the bond between Hawai‘i and the Oceania market.

The seven events across five cities offered a vibrant cultural immersion. Attendees enjoyed live performances by Hawaiian duo Kuki and Nick Navales, hula dancer Sophie Kaina, and Hawaiian-inspired cuisine. The new format, featuring theatre presentations and a free-flow travel expo, provided more networking opportunities. Guests also had the chance to win holiday packages to the Hawaiian Islands.

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania used the platform to unveil its new 2025 campaign, “The People. The Place. The Hawaiian Islands” which celebrates the islands’ natural beauty and cultural heritage.

This new campaign encourages visitors to explore the unique culture of Hawai‘i, highlighting that it’s not just the breathtaking landscapes but also the warmth and spirit of the community that make the Hawaiian Islands truly unforgettable. Additionally, insights into tourism recovery efforts were shared, emphasising Australia’s strong repeat visitor rate of 55.4% and an average stay of 8.8 days, with many travellers venturing beyond O‘ahu.

The events fostered strong connections between Hawaiian tourism suppliers, travel advisors, and media, paving the way for future travel.

Participating partners included: Prince Resorts Hawai‘i, Highgate Hawai‘i, Aqua-Aston Hospitality, Marriott International, Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club, Courtyard Marriott O‘ahu North Shore, MacNaughton Hospitality, Kualoa Ranch Nature Reserve, Hawaiian Airlines, Air New Zealand, Norwegian Cruise Line, Outrigger Resorts & Hotels, and Hilton Resorts Hawai‘i.

HTO extends its heartfelt mahalo nui (thank you) to all partners and attendees for making Aloha Down Under 2024 a success.
