Summersphere: Summer School Holidays at Scienceworks

Get ready to transform your summer break into an exciting scientific adventure with Summersphere at Scienceworks!

From December 20 2024 to January 27 2025, this annual extravaganza offers a dazzling mix of hands-on activities, fascinating exhibitions, and family-friendly entertainment. Whether you’re building bubbles, exploring the power of air at Air Playground, or partying in foam, Summersphere promises unforgettable memories for kids and adults alike.

SCIENCEWORKS SUMMER SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

1. Air Playground

Air Playground welcomes curious kids and their families to play with air, the amazing invisible force, and experience the science of aerodynamics.   

Float objects in mid-air, place material in fast-moving air-jets, squish a giant inflatable tentacled sculpture with your body, launch balls sky-high with compressed air, craft paper planes to soar and more.

2. Museum of the Moon

Step into the cosmos with this breathtaking art installation. At four metres wide, the Museum of the Moon is a hyper-detailed lunar display showcasing the moon’s surface like never before.

Perfect for curious kids and adults who love to stargaze, this exhibit is a must-see addition to your Scienceworks adventure.

3. Bubblemania Show

Prepare to be mesmerised by the science of bubbles!

In this free 20-minute amphitheatre show, learn all about these fascinating spheres while watching bubble artistry at its best. It’s a burst of fun for kids of all ages.

Mega Bubble Mondays

Mondays get a magical twist with this bubble-filled celebration. Watch your kids chase, pop, and create giant bubbles in Scienceworks’ outdoor arena.

Ready Steady Rollbot

FlushBack iPad Activity

Thursday Family Nights

Families can enjoy an evening of oversized beach balls, bubble fun, and inflatable games while relaxing under the summer sky. Don’t miss the family-friendly Planetarium screenings that make this a perfect night out.

FlushBack, Scienceworks’ new, award-winning AR adventure, brings to life the awe-inspiring heritage-listed Spotswood Pumping Station. 

Understand the importance of sewerage systems and how they fit into the water cycle – and have fun doing it!

Take a seat in our Lightning Room and be mesmerised by The Glow Show, a stunning 30-minute live science show, focused on the fascinating processes behind luminosity, including the many ways a glow can be produced.
