Rail Europe adds new rail passages into Slovenia

Rail Europe has introduced new train routes connecting Slovenia to major European cities. Available through its partner solutions RailAPI, RailFlash and RailPortal, the new routes open up Slovenia’s vibrant destinations to partners worldwide, complementing the existing offers on raileurope.com and the Rail Europe app. Travel agencies and partners will gain access to new ÖBB-operated routes, including:
- Trieste from/to Ljubljana (with stops in Celje, Pragersko, Lasko, Zidani Most, Trbovlje, and Zagorje for instance)
- Graz from/to Ljubljana
- Vienna from/to Ljubljana
- Vienna from/to Maribor
- Zurich from/to Ljubljan
- Munich from/to Ljubljana
- Budapest from/to Ljubljana

Slovenia’s tourism has reached record-breaking levels, reflecting its growing appeal among global travellers. According to the Slovenian Government, 2023 was the most successful year for tourism, with 6.19 million visitors (up 5.5% compared to 2022) and 16.13 million overnight stays (+3.5%). Foreign tourists accounted for 72% of all overnight stays, with Ljubljana experiencing a 20% increase in visitors. Germany, Austria and Italy were the top inbound markets, highlighting the demand for enhanced rail connectivity to the country.
The new routes not only connect Slovenia to neighbouring countries but also offer a gateway to discovering the wider European continent.
With the added convenience of Rail Europe’s Multi-Providers feature, travel partners can now book multi-leg journeys seamlessly across various European rail networks.
The Eurail/Interrail Slovenia Pass provides an excellent way to travel seamlessly across the country.
